[시사저널e=유길연 기자] Domestic gasoline and diesel prices rose for the sixth consecutive week. Gasoline also exceeded the 1,700 won mark on a weekly basis.

According to the Korea National Oil Corporation’s oil price information system Opinet on the 19th, the average selling price of gasoline at gas stations nationwide in the third week of August (13th to 17th) was 1727.7 won per liter, up 32.7 won from the previous week. On a daily basis, it exceeded 1,700 won in 10 months on the 9th, and this week it also broke through the 1,700 won line on a weekly basis.

The region with the highest gasoline price in the country is Seoul, and the average price of gasoline this week was 1808.1 won, up 32.6 won from the previous week. However, international oil prices, which continued to rise until last week, fell slightly this week. It is interpreted as influenced by the real estate crisis in China, the possibility of additional interest rate hikes by the US central bank, the Federal Reserve (Fed), and Iran’s announcement of increased crude oil production and hopes of restoring nuclear negotiations.

This week’s average price of Dubai oil, which is the standard for the price of imported crude oil, recorded $86.4 per barrel, down 1.5 dollars from the previous week. The price of diesel for international automobiles was $118.0, down $1.3. However, the international gasoline average price increased by $1.4 to $103.0. .
