Previously, this consignee also registered the import declaration on January 28 at Dinh Vu Port Customs Branch (Hai Phong City Customs Department). The cargo includes a shipping container on board the ship XIN WEN ZHOU 147E, which entered Lach Huyen port on January 22.

On the declaration, the enterprise declares that the goods include an item that is “cow horns (COW HORNS)”, scientific name bos taurus, not on the list of prohibited imports (according to CITES), used for the production of furniture. crafts. Item has been preliminarily processed, cleaned and dried, 100% new, made in Nigeria (Africa).

However, through professional measures, the customs force suspected that this container contained ivory, which is banned from import.

On February 2, at Lach Huyen Port, Hai Phong Customs presided over and coordinated with the Command of Coast Guard Region 1, Hai Phong Border Guard, and Hai Phong Police to inspect suspicious containers and discovered nearly 490kg of ivory.

Currently, the shipments are being reported by the Dinh Vu Port Customs Branch to the Hai Phong Customs Department to continue to coordinate with the authorities to investigate, verify and handle in accordance with the law.
