This year, Russia will not take part in Eurovision 2022, so the issue of creating a domestic alternative to the song contest has once more become relevant.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Culture Denis Maidanovthe international musical competition of folk performers “MiR” (“Music and Development”) can become an analogue of “Eurovision” in Russia.

“MiR” is a strong competition, which is held among ensembles, choirs, orchestras and folk performers. I confess that we did not count on such a success: more than three thousand children and teenagers from 7 to 15 years old from 150 cities of Russia and Belarus took part in the first season. We are already working on the second season. Eurovision, of course, must be replaced, and this will be done, ”Maidanova quotes news.ru.

Let’s addthe first season of the MiR contest was held last year.
