Sirlord Conteh has snatched back the title of the Bundesliga’s fastest player. The 28-year-old Bochum winger clocked an astonishing 36.82 km/h during Saturday’s match against FC Bayern. This blistering pace solidifies Conteh’s position as the fastest player in Germany’s top football division since measurement tracking began in the 2011/12 season
Conteh’s record briefly belonged to Gerrit Holtmann, whose speed of 36.74 km/h set the benchmark just over a month ago. Notably, Conteh had previously secured the speed record on the second matchday of this very season.
Conteh’s incredible feat has thrust him into an elite group: just 24 players have surpassed the 36 km/h mark in Bundesliga history. Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi was the first to achieve this feat back in the 2019/20 season while playing for Dortmund. He initially reached 36.21 km/h against RB Leipzig, but quickly improved to 36.49 km/h a short time later against Union Berlin.
For context, sprint legend Usain Bolt, who attempted a professional football career after retiring from athletics, registered a top speed of 44.72 km/h in his prime.
What is Sirlord Conteh’s top speed?

**Andi:** Absolutely! This is a real statement from the young winger. Sirlord Conteh clocked in at a staggering 22.83 mph (36.74 km/h) during Matchday 9 of this season. That’s faster than anyone previously recorded in the Bundesliga since they began tracking speed data back in 2011/12 [[1](https://amp.bundesliga.com/en/faq/davies-haaland-adeyemi-fastest-players-of-all-time-10553)].
**Host:** Wow, that’s incredible! Do we know what triggered this record-breaking speed?
**Andi:** While it wasn’t during a goal-scoring moment, Conteh burst into action chasing down a loose ball during Bochum’s unfortunate 7-2 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt. Even in defeat, he managed to etch his name into the Bundesliga record books.
**Host:** It sounds like Conteh is definitely a player to watch. What can we expect from him going forward?
**Andi:** This young player has raw talent and speed that’s truly electrifying. If he can continue developing and honing his skills, there’s no telling how far he can go. This record is just the beginning for Sirlord Conteh.
