Several breads sold in supermarkets have been the subject of a national recall campaign since Thursday, March 31, due to a substance deemed toxic.
Many batches of breads sold at Intermarché, Super U and Netto contain too many alkaloids. This plant-derived molecule is used in medicine as a painkiller and is naturally present in certain seeds. The use of this molecule is not prohibited, but there is a threshold determined by European Union regulations that should not be exceeded.
A national recall campaign was launched on Thursday, March 31 so that consumers return products that contain too much of this molecule.
Four types of bread are affected by this recall campaign. The 350 gram country bread sold at Netto and Intermarché between February 21 and March 30, 2022. Sold in the same stores, the 250 gram country baguette purchased between March 2 and 30 is also recalled.
