Several bags of blood were seized in the commune of Ouanaminthe in the middle of the week by the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), according to a press release from the state institution, specifying that the blood contained in some of these pouches are contaminated with AIDS and hepatitis B viruses.
The institution informs that tests and analyzes have confirmed that the blood contained in some of these bags is contaminated by the AIDS and hepatitis B viruses.
The MSPP also specifies that these blood bags do not come from a station of the National Transfusion Health Program (PNST/MSPP) and have not been tested by any of the stations of the said program of the ministry.
This situation has created general panic in Ouanaminthe and throughout the country, outraged some who claim that these bags of blood come from the Dominican Republic.
Without confirming this version, the Ministry of Public Health and Population recalls that no one is authorized to purchase or receive blood products from foreign countries such as blood, red blood cells and their derivatives.
Also, the state body urges the population to be vigilant by requiring medical personnel to carefully check the blood bags as well as their derivatives to be administered to patients.
