The Danish Maritime Authority stopped the Cyprus-registered container ship that had run aground on Friday morning. The Elbwater was heading from Fredericia to the Port of Aarhus, but it crashed between Sletterhage and Samsø, although according to the Norwegian Defense Command did not cause an immediate leak hazard.

It was a practical Port of Aarhus who gave the first report that the ship had run aground. After that, it was the Norwegian forces that sent an environmental ship, which together with the rising tide managed to free the ship.

However, the ship was detained by the authorities “until I am sure it is seaworthy,” according to the Danish Maritime Authority. The container ship was built in 2012 and is 151.72 meters long and 23.4 meters wide and was previously known as Wes Janine.
