Swimming pools continue to be popular in Quebec and a new player is making waves in the market. For two years now, Container Canada has been the only manufacturer to offer a model made in a…container!
The product is gaining popularity and selling across the country. Container pools were all the rage at the last Expo habitat Québec trade show.
Container Canada’s plant is located in Saguenay. Its owner, Jérémie Tessier, describes his pools as “completely self-supporting and structural”.
The target clientele is without a doubt those with complex land where it would be very expensive to dig or install a water basin on the edge. The cost is estimated at around $36,000.
“It’s a swimming pool that can be installed anywhere,” explained Tessier on the program “A vos affaires” on LCN on Monday.
“It comes to provide a solution to all customers with somewhat difficult land who wanted to have a swimming pool, but whose land did not necessarily have the physical qualities to be able to set up a swimming pool at a reasonable cost.”
Ironically, the idea came to Jérémie Tessier when he himself wanted to get a swimming pool.
“I had an important rock presence. Building an inground pool would have cost a fortune. I was the first surprised to see that it didn’t exist. We started from this problem, there is a team of engineers with a team of industrial designers.
In 2019, we did the first research to see the viability of the project. We continued in 2020 with the physical prototypes. We will now complete our second year of production with 38 units manufactured, delivered to our customers.”
Another factor that appeals to Container Canada’s customers is the lifespan. Harsh winters and temperature variations cause normal pools to wear out with the seasons.
Since the container is made of steel, it is more solid and resistant, explains Jérémie Tessier.
“No matter the movement of the ground, the pool will not be damaged due to freezing or bad weather, he assures.
“We decided to integrate a mechanical room, that means that below our stairs, we have access to this compartment, where we will find the electrical panel, the LED lights, the pumps, the filter, the water heater.”
Some love them to the point of leaving with their swimming pool if they have to move.
“The “container” pool is extremely easy to install, but also to remove. It doesn’t matter where you want to go. The person who moves regularly can now say “I’m leaving with my swimming pool!”.
Container Canada currently has a production capacity of approximately 28 to 30 units per year. The company plans to increase its production capacity over the next year.
