Consumption: what happens to lost parcels from La Poste?

Every year, Swiss Post auctions its lost parcels just before Christmas. And the sale takes place this weekend!

Millions of parcels are sent each year by La Poste with a particularly intense peak in November and December for Christmas gifts. Among them, many parcels remain outstanding and never find their recipient. If they have not been claimed following 6 months, they then become the property of La Poste.

The growth of e-commerce is such that La Poste sorted and delivered 505 million Colissimo in 2021 compared to 471 million in 2020. In November and December 2021, 100 million Colissimo were shipped. The reason for these lost parcels is mostly a defect in the address.

Every year, before Christmas, La Poste organizes its traditional auction of lost parcels. A godsend for unearthing high-tech products and game consoles, as well as household appliances and unusual pieces at attractive prices.

The sale offers many lots for children. Puzzles, tablets, playmobil and lego boxes, dollhouse, electric tractor, bicycles, figurines, it is a real Prévert-style inventory that is offered on the site Interenchères where you can follow and bid live on the sale from anywhere in France.

The sale started yesterday in Nantes and continues this Saturday where nearly 500 lots are sold during these two days. The profits from the operation will go to the Association of families of disabled children from La Poste and Orange.
