This chronic disease is favored by many risk factors such as the consumption of tobacco, alcohol and also coffee. Indeed, in a recent study published on December 21, 2022 in the Journal of the American Heart Association, American researchers looked at the link between the consumption of two or more cups of coffee per day and mortality due to cardiovascular disease in people with severe hypertension.
To arrive at this observation, researchers from the University of Osaka (Japan) solicited the participation of 6,570 men and more than 12,000 women, aged 40 to 79.
Participants then provided data through health exams and self-administered questionnaires assessing lifestyle, diet and medical history. During almost 19 years of follow-up (until 2009), 842 cardiovascular deaths were documented.
