LH Mikl-Leitner: “A milestone in municipal public services and an important step for environmental protection”
St. Pölten (OTS/NLK) – Yesterday, Saturday, the new construction yard and materials collection center in Wolfpassing, one of three cadastral communities in the municipality of Hochleithen, were ceremoniously opened. Numerous political representatives from neighboring communities on and off duty, construction companies and sponsors, emergency services organizations and numerous citizens took part.
The opening was carried out by State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, who spoke of the municipality of Hochleithen as a model municipality in Lower Austria. “A community that, with its numerous businesses, kindergarten, elementary school, educational institute, its clubs, but also investments in digitalization or the expansion of childcare, has become a livable and lovable home in recent years and has constantly developed further.” Well The next milestone in municipal public services will be opened, “the new construction yard and the materials collection center.”
With major investments from the community and state, “something great has been created,” says Mikl-Leitner. “On the one hand, a new, modern working environment for municipal employees with the new building yard for all three cadastral communities at one location” – this merger also offers new opportunities for citizens, for example space for building sites for young families. “On the other hand, the important and necessary materials collection center, because it is the responsibility of all of us to “handle Mother Earth carefully and protect the environment, but too much waste is still produced, over 500 tons a year in Lower Austria alone. “But we, in particular, are masters at separating and recycling.” Mikl-Leitner explained that with a separation rate of 66 percent and a recycling rate of all waste of 63 percent, Lower Austria has already exceeded the EU target of 60 percent by 2030. “We owe this to the activity of our communities and the discipline of our compatriots.”
In Lower Austria, however, there will continue to be a strong focus on a sustainable circular economy, because “our natural resources are limited,” said the state governor. “Separating and recycling makes sense ecologically, economically and economically,” she said and explained: “Ecologically, because valuable raw materials are retained in the production cycle, economically, because many companies already rely on recycled materials in their production,” and it helps economically, “because they are collected and recycled waste materials create added value.”
Mikl-Leitner particularly emphasized that all decisions regarding the building yard and the recycling center “to this day have been unanimous,” which shows “that the community and the population are pulling together. She emphasized: “It is also nice that almost exclusively companies from the Weinviertel were involved in the implementation of this project, because this means that the added value remains in the region.
In his words, Mayor Adolf Mechtler summarized the path from planning to the creation of the construction yard and materials collection center and said: “We are a small community that has achieved great things. This project shows what can be achieved through cooperation, thrift, planning and efficiency.”
Architect Peter Wenzel presented the project from a technical point of view, Father Jan Rodzinka blessed the new building. The ceremonial opening was accompanied musically by the Hochleithen Music Association.
