Construction, services, commerce and transportation have been the productive areas most in demand by the Chillaneja community in the search for employment so far in 2024.
According to information from the Labor Intermediation Office (Omil) of the Municipality of Chillán, during this year it is expected to maintain and enhance work with companies that recruit personnel through the entity.
According to Jorge Salgado, head of said municipal office, “the areas most in demand by the local population correspond to areas of construction, services, commerce and transportation.”
Furthermore, the professional highlighted that so far this year, “there is an increase in the hiring of temporary positions, due to the summer season in which personnel are required to cover shifts, vacations or licenses and due to the increase in demand in certain areas such as commerce, considering the start of the school season and tourism.”
Patricia Bustos, professional in charge of the labor intermediation program and specialist in labor integration, highlighted that Omil currently works directly with around 360 companies.
For the current year, he stressed, “we hope to maintain alliances to be able to bring job offers closer to the community” that is constantly looking for job offers, indicated Patricia Bustos, occupational therapist.
People incorporated into companies
The specialist highlighted that during 2023, the municipal entity dependent on the Directorate of Productive Development, Didepro, managed to insert some 2,000 people into various companies in the area, a high percentage of which correspond to jobs lasting more than three months and with payment of contributions.
Patricia Bustos added that “Omil office work allows us to bring the available job offers from companies that require personnel closer to the population, increasing our target audience since we have job offers aimed at people who develop trades, as well as job offers for technical and professional positions. , also considering within them the inclusive job offers that favor the participation of people with disabilities in the world of work.”
Job orientations
Likewise, he maintained that “Omil makes it possible to bring together training offers that provide valuable tools to develop the skills necessary to function in the field of interest to people and thus promote employability.”
“One of the most relevant actions of Omil are the job orientations, which allow providing tools to people looking for work to encourage their participation in employment through active search through the various existing channels, developing new skills, strategies to compete in the job search process,” he stressed.
