Construction sector sales volume grows 2.85% in the 1st quarter of 2023

According to senior index reportcarried out quarterly, the construction sector recorded a 2.85% increase in sales volume in the 1st quarter of this year, compared to the same period of 2022. In addition, there was a 38.73% drop in cancellations.

The General Sales Value for 1Q2023 also showed an increase of 17.66% compared to the same period of 2022, which corresponds to a movement of more than R$ 7 billion reais.

The period follows the positive forecasts of the Brazilian Construction Industry Chamber (CBIC), which predicts that the construction industry will grow by 2.5% in 2023.

The construction sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in Brazil in recent years, and in 2023, despite a change in government and a rise in interest rates, situations that normally destabilize the market, the pace of growth should continue. This sector has undergone important evolutions in its processes and even with challenging situations in recent years, such as the considerable increase in the cost of inputs, the segment has shown resilience.

Among the regions with the best performance are São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and Santa Catarina. While the areas of Paraná, Distrito Federal, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and Goiás presented the lowest performance in this area.

The average value of the square meter acquired in the period is R$ 7,794.66, an increase of 6.87%, in the comparison of the 1st quarter of 2023 in relation to the same period of 2022.
