Construction of the third section of the Bioceánica route registers progress

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) reports significant progress in the execution of the third section of the Bioceanic Corridor, a strategic project for the connectivity of the Paraguayan Chaco.

Section 3, which extends approximately 224 kilometers from Mariscal Estigarribia to Pozo Hondo, is divided into four lots and currently, Lot 2 shows auspicious progress in its execution.

The project is financed by the Development Bank (Fonplata) and reaffirms the Paraguayan government’s commitment to the development of strategic road infrastructure for regional integration and economic growth in the country.

This sector, located between kilometers 156 and 215 of route PY15, is managed by the Consorcio Chaqueño del Norte, made up of the companies LT SA, Constructora Heisecke SA and Benito Roggio e Hijos SA. The tasks in progress include cleaning and clearing, preparation for the new fence line and processing of material for the embankment.

The Bioceanic Road Corridor in its entirety covers some 532 kilometers in the Paraguayan Chaco, connecting the border town of Carmelo Peralta with Pozo Hondo, on the border with Argentina. The work is divided into three construction stages, with the first section of more than 275 kilometers, which links Carmelo Peralta with Loma Plata, having already been completed.

Of the total 224 kilometers of the section, 3,220 correspond to the paving of the main corridor, while the rest are allocated to complementary road improvements such as accesses, urban crossings and collectors.
