Construction of the second bridge over the Monday River begins soon

Asunción, IP Agency.- Phase A corresponding to the Review and Final Engineering Design of the second bridge over the Monday River is in its decisive stage, to then begin its construction in the department of Alto Paraná.

The development of the project promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications, consists of two phases or stages, financed with a loan from the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), for an amount of up to USD 212 million.

The first is carried out with the purpose of making the bridge layout compatible with the other works of the Eastern Metropolitan Corridor (CMDE), while Phase B is the construction itself, over a period of 18 months.

Within this framework, the execution of the preliminary works has already begun, which includes the mobilization and opening of access roads in the work area.

The contracting company in charge of the aforementioned tasks is the Puente Monday Consortium (Constructora Heisecke SA and Construpar SA), and the inspection is carried out by the JY1 Consortium.

Connection with other road networks

The second bridge over the Monday River will be the connection between the interurban access of the city of Presidente Franco and the almost 31 km highway that covers the rural area of ​​the CMDE, exiting at km 17.5 of route PY02, in the district. by Minga Guazú.

It will have a length of 500 meters, with a cross section of the design comprising 26.50 meters; as well as 4 lanes of 3.60 meters, two internal shoulders of 1.30 meters each, separated by a New Jersey type defense of 0.60 meters and two external shoulders of 1.50, also with a New Jersey type defense of 0.40 meters, in addition of pedestrian paths and bicycle paths of 2.50 meters at both ends of the section.

Set of civil and road works

The CMDE consists of a set of civil and road works that will give functionality to the Integration Bridge connecting the cities of Presidente Franco and Foz de Yguazú, Brazil.

There are 6 contracts in force, of which 4 are for road infrastructure: rural sector (lots 1 and 2), urban sector or interconnection to the existing network in Presidente Franco and the construction of this second bridge over the Monday River.

Two more contracts are in full swing that are for civil works and comprise the primary area and the cargo terminal of the National Navigation and Ports Administration (ANNP).
