Construction of a new factory for British car manufacturer Lotus Cars has been completed in central China

WUHAN, July 18, 2022 (Xinhua) British Lotus Cars, a manufacturer of sports and racing cars, has completed construction work on its new factory in Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province.

The plant, covering an area of ​​about 100 hectares, is located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, one of China’s automobile manufacturing clusters. According to Zhejiang Geely Group Holdings, a Chinese automaker that bought Lotus Cars in 2017, the total investment in the plant was 8 billion yuan (about 1.2 billion US dollars).

According to Geely, the new plant will produce three models of electric cars, with a designed annual production capacity of 150,000 units.

The Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone has more than 10 auto manufacturers and about 500 auto parts production enterprises. The region produces nearly one million cars each year, with an annual industrial output of more than 320 billion yuan.
