Construction materials that are lacking in Cuba are sold in international markets 2024-07-30 20:48:48

Cuban companies are currently selling construction materials that are in short supply in Cuba at international markets and fairs. While this is happening, the housing shortage on the island is reaching unimaginable levels.

Walfrido Larduey, senior business specialist at Imbondex Construcciones, told Prensa Latina about the products presented by his company in Angola, especially for the execution of construction projects and the manufacture of high-quality construction materials.

On this occasion, Larduey said, among the products brought to the event, the most notable were “washed sand and concrete blocks, an agricultural limestone to improve soil acidity, which can be very attractive for farmers and companies in the sector.”

Cuba, with a history of failing to build housing due to a lack of materials and total chaos in agriculture, is promoting business in both sectors during the Luanda International Fair, Angola’s largest exhibition and trade event.

At this event, they offer construction materials manufactured in Cuba, agricultural components, Cuban professional services and tourist packages to the Island, especially health tourism.

Construction materials in Cuba: crisis at home, sales abroad

The construction materials crisis in Cuba has reached such a point that in April of this year, in Las Tunas, a brick factory in eastern Cuba reported that it was producing its products amid the shortage using an “innovative” mix of sawdust, manure and rice husks.

According to the news agency, a “new era” in brick manufacturing was approaching in Las Tunas, thanks to the collaboration between the importing and exporting company Agroint and an Argentine businessman.

The initiative, which is based in the municipality of Jobabo, promises to “revolutionize” the industry with environmentally-friendly technologies.
