Construction halted ‘Dunchon Jugong’ to resume construction within the year

[e대한경제=황윤태 기자] The project is expected to normalize as the Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction Association in Gangdong-gu, Seoul agreed to appoint a new executive in October and hold a general meeting to resume construction.

Dunchon Jugong is a project to demolish 5930 households and build the highest 35-story building, 85 buildings, and 12,032 households.

The executive branch of the existing union and the top committee decided to set up a new consultative group ‘Business Normalization Committee’ to delegate tasks such as holding a general meeting and discussing the resumption of construction.

In addition, the union representative will cooperate with the Business Normalization Committee to actively promote the business of holding a general meeting and resuming construction.

According to the agreement, the executive department plans to hold a board meeting and set up a ‘business normalization committee’ with no more than five members, including union executives and top-ranking members. To prevent a leadership vacuum, existing union executives only submitted letters of intent to resign, and the Business Normalization Committee will negotiate with the construction team until a new executive is elected in October.

With this measure, Dunchon Jugong is evaluated to have taken the first step towards resuming construction. The top-level officials expect that the resumption of construction will take place in November if the agenda related to the resumption of construction is put forward at the general meeting in October. The construction team also agreed to cooperate for the normalization of the project and prompt resumption of construction.

An industry official said, “It takes a considerable amount of time to hold a general meeting of dismissal of the existing union leadership and appoint a new executive, so proceeding without a dismissal meeting is the best way to reduce the time until construction resumes. It is expected that the construction will resume around November if cooperation with the company is achieved.”
