The Cuban sports community is in mourning following the tragic death of Emmanuel Cárdenas Gutiérrez, a promising Little League Baseball athlete from the municipality of Camajuaní, in Villa Clara.
The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation expressed its regret in a message published on the social network X:
“We deeply regret the death of Emmanuel Cárdenas Gutiérrez, a Little League Baseball athlete, from the municipality of Camajuaní, in Villa Clara. Our hug, as a message of condolences, to family and colleagues.”
Sports commentator Pavel Otero also shared his pain for the loss of the young athlete:
“The death of a child is always very sad. Today we learned of the death of the little player Enmanuel Cárdenas Gutiérrez, a member of the Little League team from the Villa Clara municipality of Camajuaní. It hurts me a lot because he is a child, and because I also met him, I talked to him, and we took a photo that I will cherish with great affection for a lifetime. In the group photo, it’s the boy in the red pants that I casually put my arm on. And not because Enmanuel died, but I can assure you that he was one of the players with the most potential in his category in Camajuaní. My deepest condolences to his family and his teammates.”

The news shocked millions of Cubans who expressed our feelings on social networks regarding the death of the child Enmanuel Cárdenas, from the 11-12 year old team of Camajuaní, Villa Clara, victim of a bacterial infection.
