Things are becoming clearer for Constantia Flexibles, one of Wendel’s largest holdings. As revealed the Informed at the end of 2022, the French investment holding decided to liquidate its position as majority shareholder in this manufacturer of flexible packaging (2 billion euros in turnover). According to several concordant sources, four funds, all North American, have qualified for the final phase of the auction led by the investment bank Evercore. These are Apollo, Onex, OneRock and Brookfield. The first three are rather familiar with industrial issues. Apollo, the best known in France, has for example long been the majority shareholder of the glassmaker Verrallia (which it floated on the stock market in 2019) or the aluminum manufacturer Constellium. The fourth suitor, Brookfield, is more accustomed to investing in infrastructure: it has just bought the Data4 data centers from Axa IM for nearly 3.5 billion euros.
