For several months now, Corpoelec contractor crews have been felling trees in various municipalities in the state of Aragua, focusing especially on Mario Briceño, Iragorry and Girardot.

This practice has generated strong rejection from environmental groups such as Eco Sendero El Limón, whose representative, Alexander Hernández, has raised his voice to denounce the serious damage caused to urban flora and fauna. In this same sense, he warned that in some cases the impact can be irreparable.

Hernández, coordinator of this ecological group, has spoken out against this action, which he describes as indiscriminate felling. “Healthy trees have been stripped of their branches in an unbalanced way, which will cause them to fall due to the action of the winds,” he stressed.

Together with other activists, he is preparing to file a formal complaint with the relevant authorities in order to address this environmental situation that seriously affects the natural environment of the region.

The environmentalist pointed out that there are legal regulations regarding the pruning of trees near power grids, which clearly establish the distance limits that must be respected.

In this regard, he stated that the felling carried out by Corpoelec contractors in Aragua and other states is a sign of ignorance and disrespect for plant life. He stressed the importance of preserving trees as essential for environmental balance.

He highlighted the contrast that is observed when these indiscriminate fellings are carried out, and organizations such as Eco Sendero El Limón, promote reforestation and tree planting actions. This reflects the community’s efforts to preserve the natural environment.

“This disparity of actions highlights the urgent need to raise awareness about the importance of protecting and maintaining the ecological balance in the region,” the activist stressed.
