At the end of the eighth month of the year, the consortium system showed growth in its indicators, with emphasis on active participants, which reached 9.94 million and approached the 10 million mark, according to ABAC Brazilian Association of Consortium Administrators.
In this total, there was a 10.8% increase over the 8.97 million registered in August last year, including all segments where light vehicles, motorcycles, real estate, heavy vehicles, services and electronics and other durable movable goods are present. .
Among the main reasons are the trust and credibility that the financial modality has achieved, year following year, among the consumer public who, when planning their purchases, have chosen it as a simple and economical alternative for their objectives.
For Paulo Roberto Rossi, executive president of ABAC, “since Brazilians have demonstrated greater awareness of the essence of financial education when purchasing goods or contracting services, their stance has been to evaluate, analyze and plan their new financial commitments. way to fit them, via consortium, into your monthly budgets, without making impulse purchases and without getting into debt”.
From January 2022 to August this year, the modality completed twenty months of advances in the volumes of active consortium members, with only one retraction last April, when it totaled 9.44 million.
In the 9.94 million active consortium members, the mechanism recorded increases of 32.7% in heavy vehicles; 19.1% in real estate; 13.3% in electronics and other durable movable goods; 9.6% on motorcycles; 6.0% in light vehicles; and 1.9% in services.
To once once more reach a new historical volume, sales reached the second best monthly total of the last ten years, with 387.99 thousand new quotas, providing the accumulated number, from January to August, of 2.79 million, 8.6 % higher than the 2.57 million recorded in the same period in 2022. The sums reached in the six decades of the system’s existence were exceeded.
In each of the sectors where the mechanism is present, the total number of active quotas was distributed as follows: 44.2% in light vehicles; 27.6% on motorcycles; 16.0% in real estate; 7.6% in heavy vehicles; 2.6% in electronics and other durable movable goods; and 2.0% in services.
By sector, the accumulated number of additions resulted in 1.11 million light vehicles; 868.82 thousand on motorcycles; 507.05 thousand in real estate; 213.82 thousand in heavy vehicles, 58.60 thousand in electronics; and 32.71 thousand in services.
During the period, business carried out, considering the record sales of new quotas and the increase in the average ticket, exceeded R$206.51 billion, 25.1% higher than the R$165.05 billion in 2022.
With the increase in active participants, there was an increase in the overall average ticket, despite some sectors showing a reduction in the value of credits, due to the greater number of quotas sold with values below the averages for each segment. The average ticket in August reached R$72.99 thousand, 18.1% above the R$61.82 thousand recorded in that month in 2022.
Contemplations exceed a million
Still from January to August, the accumulated number of consortium members included exceeded one million and reached 1.09 million, 10.4% higher than the 987.27 thousand, added in the same period of 2022, resulting in more credit releases for potential acquisitions .
Evaluating the awards by draw and by bid, there were 478.52 thousand motorcycles; 424.59 thousand light vehicles; 67.20 thousand of properties; 52.30 thousand heavy vehicles; 37.10 thousand of electronics and other durable movable goods; and 33.03 thousand services, in the eight months.
The granting of corresponding credits to those contemplated, when the objectives are transformed into acquisitions, reached R$ 55.08 billion, potentially injected into the segments of the economy where the consortium is present, with 22.8% higher than the previous R$ 44.85 billion.
“After eight months, the balance of the consortium system shows the same growth rate seen in previous months”, says Rossi. “With the sequence of good results, with the consortiums advancing over their past numbers in terms of memberships, average ticket, and consequently the number of businesses carried out, regardless of the interest rate percentage, the prospects remain optimistic for the end of the year”, he adds.
This positive evolution, proven mainly by the constant records in the last twenty months, confirms greater consumer knowledge regarding financial education. “Month following month, Brazilians have changed their behavior in relation to personal finances, where the main focus has been planning and maintaining a balance between income, expenses and investments, and the consortium fits perfectly in this relationship”, comments Rossi.
Present in the production chain
The consortia are present in sectors such as two-wheelers which, only in the initial eight months of contemplation, indicated the potential acquisition of one motorcycle for every two sold on the domestic market. In the automotive sector, the potential presence was also in one in every three light vehicles sold in the country.
Another example of participation can be seen in the heavy vehicle market, where the mechanism marked almost one in every three commercializations of trucks negotiated for the expansion or renewal of fleets in the transport sector, with special emphasis on use in agribusiness.
The strong presence of consortia in the Brazilian economy can be proven by the total number of credits granted. In the accumulated releases from January to July, the system reached 37.1% of potential presence in the automobile, utility vehicle and truck sector. In the case of motorcycles, there was a possible participation of 45.8%, and in the case of heavy vehicles, the ratio for trucks was 31.1% in the period.
In the real estate segment, in the seven months of this year alone, contemplations represented a potential 16.5% share of the total of 353.22 thousand properties financed, including consortiums. Approximately one property for every five sold.
“The excellent results of the Consortium System obtained in the eight months of the year, due to its exclusive characteristics and peculiarities, allow us to project, in addition to continuity in the coming months, achieving unprecedented performances in the various segments where it is present”, concludes Rossi.
