Legislators and municipal elected officials are questioning the strategy adopted by the Russian president, according to the founder of the Raoul-Dandurand Chair, Charles Philippe David.
“And that is something really very surprising given that most, if not all of the Russian opponents of this war have either taken the path of exile, or have been imprisoned”, explains the specialist in an interview with LCN.
The extreme nationalist right is also critical of Vladimir Putin’s plans.
These activists “even tougher than Putin, wonder when the President of Russia will mobilize the entire Russian population, particularly young men in a state of combat, to grant more capacity and resources on the ground”, supports Mr. David .
“President Vladimir Putin therefore finds himself in the middle of these criticisms, and, clearly, there is unanimity between the two poles of criticism: Putin is leading a very bad war strategy,” he adds.
These discordant voices are heard in the followingmath of a spectacular Ukrainian counter-offensive in northern Donbass.
Listen to the interview with Normand Lester, blogger at the Journal de Montréal Journal de Québec on QUB radio:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday that Ukraine has been able to reclaim nearly 6,000 kilometers of territory in this region.
An astonishing conquest for the UQAM specialist.
“We expected a counter-offensive in Kherson, in southern Ukraine. However, Ukraine has rather hit the northern Donbass, and has been hurting Russia very much for 48 hours,” he said.
