Connor Bedard achieved a spectacular feat of arms Saturday night, scoring a magnificent Michigan goal against Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues.

But in the NHL, the king of Michigan goals is Trevor Zegras. Upon his return to the game after a six-week absence, Zegras responded to Bedard the same evening by scoring a Michigan, against Joey Daccord of the Seattle Kraken.

This is already the fourth Michigan-style goal for Zegras in the NHL, he who is only 22 years old. Bedard, for his part, achieved the feat for the first time in his 33rd match in the Bettman circuit.

The two goals were scored just over two hours apart.

Bedard leads NHL rookies with 13 goals and 30 points this season.

Despite Bedard’s prowess, the Blackhawks were defeated 7-5 against the Blues. Nick Foligno scored twice for the Blackhawks, while Anthony Beauvillier and Jason Dickinson also scored. Jarred Tinordi had three assists.

For the Blues, Jordan Kyrou hit the target twice. Robert Thomas, Brandon Saad, Jake Neighbors, Colton Parayko and Justin Faulk also scored in the Blues victory.

St. Louis improved to 4-1 under interim head coach Drew Bannister. Jordan Binnington stopped 16 shots.

Faulk scored his second goal of the season with 2:07 left to give the Blues a 6-5 lead, then Kyrou added his second of the game and ninth of the season by firing into an empty net with 61 seconds left in the dial.

Neighbors tied the game with a power play goal midway through the third period.
