A generational talent, Connor Bedard was, as expected, chosen in 1st position by Chicago during the 1st round of the NHL draft in Nashville. None of the 32 teams retained a Swiss during this 1st round.
Connor Bedard, who turns 18 on July 17, is coming off an exceptional season. The Canadian center managed 163 points in 64 WHL matches (playoffs included) under the jersey of the Regina Pats in the WHL, also leading Canada to the U20 world title by accumulating 23 points in 7 games during the last world championship.
Dionicio drafted
Behind him is the Swede Leo Carlsson (18) who was chosen in 2nd position by the Anaheim Ducks. Canadian Adam Fantili (also 18), crowned world champion among the “big guys” last month, was only called up in 3rd position by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
A Swiss was finally retained during the last 6 laps. Swiss-American defenseman Rodwin Dionicio was picked 129th overall by the Anaheim Ducks. The former Bern junior played for the last 3 years with the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL, a Canadian junior league.
