In addition, it regulates that a specialized hospital must be created to treat cancer cases, which must have a radiotherapy unit, in addition to performing coordination functions with health services, promoting research with areas related to cancer and providing actions. of counseling, education, prevention and recovery from the disease.

The regulations also create the Social Protection Program for People with Cancer, which will be run by the Ministry of Social Development and supported by the Ministry of Health.

This program must provide “economic and psychological support” as well as logistics, food and transportation for cancer patients, caregivers and their families.

To implement the law, the Ministry of Finance must transfer an initial contribution of Q600 million to the Ministry of Health for the “creation of capacities”, as well as training of specialized human resources, added to research tasks and strengthening of the national network. of oncological services and equipment.

Support for firefighters

In addition, with 94 votes, the parliamentarians approved the annual allocation of Q70 million for the National Association of Departmental Municipal Firefighters; However, the independent deputies elected by Semilla indicated that they had doubts regarding the destination of some approved funds.
