Congratulations to PCB’s Zaheer Abbas on his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has congratulated Zaheer Abbas on his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame, making him the sixth Pakistani out of a total of 93 cricketers from around the world to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

A voting committee consisting of current members of the ICC Hall of Fame and prominent journalists selected Zaheer Abbas for the honor, ahead of Hanif Muhammad, Imran Khan, Javed Miandad and Wasim Akram in 2009, while Waqar Younis was awarded the award in 2009. was selected for this honor in 2013.

The ICC Hall of Fame includes 28 cricketers from England, 27 from Australia, 18 from West Indies, 6 from India, 4 from South Africa, 3 from New Zealand and one from Sri Lanka.

Chairman PCB Ehsan Mani says that it is a matter of honor and pride for Pakistan that Zaheer Abbas’s brilliant career is being recognized and appreciated by the World Cricket Organization. Residents are congratulating Zaheer Abbas on behalf of millions of Pakistan cricket fans.

Ehsan Mani said that coincidentally, Zaheer Abbas is being awarded this honor exactly 46 years after his brilliant innings of 240 runs against England in his 15th Test.

This double century scored at the Oval was Zaheer Abbas’s second career double century, he had previously scored 274 runs at Edgbaston in 1971, while he also scored 235 not out against India in 1978 and 1982 respectively. And played an innings of 215 runs.

Chairman PCB said that he is sure that those who have seen Zaheer Abbas batting, must have been fascinated by him.

He said that Zaheer Abbas’s excellent footwork and excellent use of wrists at the crease helped him become a great batsman in the world.

Ehsan Mani further said that Zaheer Abbas has a special importance in Pakistan cricket, the name of Zaheer Abbas became an ornament in every house of the cricket playing countries, which attracted the young generation to this game and as a result Javed Miandad, Mudassar in Pakistan. Talented and brilliant batsmen like Nazr, Mohsin Khan, Saleem Malik, Ramiz Raja, Ejaz Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Aamir Sohail, Saeed Anwar, Muhammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq and Babar Azam were born.

Chairman PCB further said that Zaheer Abbas’s commitment to cricket was not limited to the field but he served the ICC and PCB in a very dignified manner as an administrator. He deserved this honor.

He said that he was hopeful that this award would encourage the new generation of cricketers.
