THE Leandros Leandros banned out of court to sing his songs, at her concert on September 6, in Herodio, on the grounds that his name is not mentioned anywhere, as the creator of many of her hits.
Vicky Leandros spoke to the magazine Hello!
“The court case was not about me but about the company organizing the concert. By mistake they did not mention his name and of course they changed it as soon as they saw it. And for me, of course, it is something natural to mention my father in my concerts because he is part of my personal and professional life,” he said.
Asked about the relationship she currently has with her father, Vicky Leandros answered “From my side, it’s good. My father is in my heart and will stay there because he raised me and wrote me the most beautiful songs in the world.”
The announcement of Leandros Leandros
I have been blessed to have the original compositions I created or co-created with friends and great colleagues such as Klaus Munro, Ralf Arnie and Michael Kunze, among others, be performed for the first time by my daughter Vicky Leandros and featured as her biggest hits, with which she became world famous: “Ich liebe das Leben”, “Dann kamst du/Après toi” (with which Ms. Leandros was crowned the winner of the 17th Eurovision Contest), “Wo Du Bist ( Da Bin Auch Ich)’, ‘Die Bouzouki Klang Durch Die Sommernacht’, ‘Drehorgelmann’, ‘Ich Bin’, ‘Karussel d’ Amour’, to name just a few songs that I sign as creator and producer (Leo Leandros, Mario Panas ).
With an injunction that I have already sent, I forbid the public performance of the songs that I have created or co-created at the Vickys Leandros concert at Herodio on September 6, 2024. The way in which this “greatest hits” concert of Vickys was initially described and promoted, coupled with such a “resounding” failure to mention my name, degrades and degrades both me as a composer and creator, as well as my works, thus offending my rights and personality. And the late communication efforts to refer to me and my name that I learn were mediated after the extrajudicial service was served, do nothing but confirm this insult.
I am sorry to experience such insult again. This time, however, I was forced to invoke the provisions of the law for the protection of my personality and my work, because I owe it to the course, my career and to myself, over a hundred years old.
I wish success in organizing the concert and to my daughter Vicky, expecting to show due respect to my statements.

Table of Contents
On September 6, 2024, an incident in the world of music will unfold at the renowned Herodion Theatre that has garnered significant media attention. The celebrated composer and producer, Leandros Leandros, has been banned from performing his own songs at his daughter Vicky Leandros’ concert, raising questions about artistic recognition and familial ties in the music industry. This article delves into the controversy, providing insights from both Leandros and Vicky, the implications of the court ruling, and the impact on their relationship.
The Court Ruling Explained
The legal dispute stems from a failure to credit Leandros Leandros as the creator of many of Vicky Leandros’ biggest hits, which were supposed to be featured in the concert. In her statements to Hello! Magazine, Vicky clarifies that the situation is primarily about the concert organizing company’s oversight. “The court case was not about me but about the company organizing the concert. They mistakenly did not mention his name, and of course, they changed it as soon as they saw it,” she emphasized. Vicky recognizes her father’s significant contributions to her success and embraces her identity as an artist shaped by his creations.
The court’s decision to bar Leandros from performing his compositions at this highly anticipated event raised eyebrows. The ruling cited the lack of acknowledgment of Leandros Leandros’ role as a creator and producer, highlighting the importance of proper crediting in the music industry.
Vicky Leandros: A Daughter’s Perspective
When asked about her current relationship with her father, Vicky expressed warmth and admiration, stating, “From my side, it’s good. My father is in my heart and will stay there because he raised me and wrote me the most beautiful songs in the world.” Vicky’s sentiment reflects a deep appreciation for her father’s artistry, and she insists that his influence is integral to her musical journey.
Leandros Leandros’ Response
Leandros Leandros issued a statement regarding the incident, expressing his disappointment over the lack of acknowledgment for his work. “I have been blessed to have the original compositions I created or co-created with friends and great colleagues… performed for the first time by my daughter Vicky Leandros,” he noted, listing iconic songs such as “Ich liebe das Leben” and “Dann kamst du/Après toi,” which he argues have been credited to her without proper recognition of his contribution.
He further elaborated on the repercussions of the concert’s promotional missteps, stating, ”The way in which this ‘greatest hits’ concert of Vicky’s was initially described and promoted…offends my rights and personality.” His feelings encapsulate the artist’s struggle for recognition, emphasizing that creators deserve respect and acknowledgment for their work, especially when their creations form the backbone of another artist’s success.
The Significance of Recognition in the Music Industry
This incident underscores a critical aspect of the music industry — the need for proper attribution of creative contributions. It raises questions about how artists, especially those in familial relationships, navigate the complexities of recognition and credit. While Vicky aims to honor her father’s legacy in her performances, the practical realities of the music business often complicate such intentions.
