S. Paulauskė helps Lithuanians living in the United Kingdom (UK) to submit applications for a pension to Sodra.
She assures that she has received complaints from a considerable number of residents due to her lower than expected length of service.
“Thousands of such messages are circulating that seniority has not been calculated, that Sodra employees cannot find seniority in the archives. These are not isolated cases.
All of us with seniority before 1994 are at risk because our seniority is unprotected, the documents are on paper, they are rotting, they are torn in the pockets, they are impossible to read, others are burnt. And that is impossible to control, because every employee of “Sodra” can make mistakes, conscious or unconscious, if they want, they can record more seniority”, said S. Paulauskė at the meeting of the parliamentary faction of the Labor Party.
He wrote regarding it earlier 15min. READ MORE: In order to extend her seniority, she received a surprise: two years of work at “Sodra” did not count
However, representatives of “Sodra” defended that employees cannot enter anything into the system, control is strict.
“Even if the stamp is not on the document, we are starting a separate investigation as to why the stamp is not there,” Sodra’s representative mentioned.
The head of “Sodra” Kęstutis Čereška also drew attention to the fact that residents may see fluctuations in numbers during the revision of seniority. You may have seen one when you first compiled the data, but following completing the checks and completing all the adjustments, the number has changed.
“Such things can happen,” he mentioned at the meeting.
The Minister of Social Security and Labor, Monika Navickienė, emphasized that, in general, such cases are only isolated. This is no longer a rule, but exceptions, possibly due to technical or human error.
“But the employee does not have, cannot have and will not have any opportunities to independently change a person’s seniority,” she assured.
The representative of “Sodra” urged residents who have paper work cards, documents, and who are afraid that they may wear out or burn, to bring them to “Sodra” and the employees will enter the data into the system.
According to him, all that the employee will enter, the client will immediately see in his account. All corrections and adjustments are public, and the resident is notified.
“Even if a person does not have a book, but remembers where he works, he can fill out a questionnaire, write down workplaces and periods. Then we send a request to the archives, and if something is not in the archives, there is another way, but more difficult, to prove where the person worked.
He can indicate who worked with him, who might testify to this. But there is already a legal process,” explained the representative of “Sodra”.
However, S.Paulauskė mentioned that she has a number of clients who faced negative court decisions.
“People’s seniority was not proven. This is a problem, and how to solve it?” she asked.
According to the SADM, “Sodra” examines almost 62,000 cases per year. population requests for pensions, of which 4-5 percent, or 3.2 thousand. there are inquiries regarding residents who have worked abroad.
“There are dozens of questions of particular complexity (…)”, the ministry told BNS.
The most common problems are paper documents, which must be submitted by the person, because “Sodra” has been collecting data on seniority and insured income since January 1994. There is no data before 1994 in this register.
“This is relevant when assigning and paying social insurance pensions, because documents and data proving accumulated seniority before 1994 are needed, and they are usually in paper format, not everyone has them, sometimes you have to search through the archives of various institutions. This leads to the fact that sometimes decisions take time,” the ministry commented.
