AWhile Netanyahu speaks of a potential “total victory” for Israel with an operation in Rafah, Zelensky for his part emphasizes the importance of Western support in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Benjamin Netanyahu declared this Sunday, during an interview on the American channel CBS, that the Israeli army would only be “a few weeks” away from “total victory” in the event of an operation in Rafah, in the south from the Gaza Strip.
This statement comes once morest a backdrop of ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas. Netanyahu, however, clarified that the military operation planned by the IDF would only be “delayed” in the event of a truce.
Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky revealed this Sunday, during a press conference, that 31,000 Ukrainian soldiers lost their lives in the conflict with Russia.
This announcement constitutes the first official communication on the number of Ukrainian military losses since the start of the conflict.
“31,000 Ukrainian soldiers died in this war. Not 300,000, not 150,000, as Putin and his circle of liars say. But each of these losses is a great loss for us,” he said.
Zelensky also appealed to Western allies, stressing that Ukraine’s victory depends on their support.
He spoke with confidence regarding the imminent approval by the US Congress of a long-awaited aid package, while recalling the crucial importance of this support for his country.
