Starfield was widely promoted during the Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct. Bethesda’s game looks might not be more ambitious and it will, unfortunately, not be possible to enjoy it at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S.
No 60 FPS on the Xbox version of Starfield
It’s not really a surprise, but Todd Howard confirmed in an interview with IGN, Starfield will not be playable at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S. The game will run in 4K at 30 FPS on Xbox Series X, and 1440p at 30 FPS on Xbox Series S.
Faced with the ambition of the title, he explains in particular that he does not want to sacrifice the beauty of the game to achieve a higher framerate, preferring consistency on consoles:
We lock it in at 30, because we want that fidelity, we want all those things, we don’t want to sacrifice any of that.

On consoles, we prefer consistency, where you don’t even think regarding it. We never want to sacrifice that experience that makes our games truly special. So the feeling is great, we’re very happy with how we feel, even in the heat of the moment, and we need that leeway because, you know, in our games, anything can really happen.
Remember that Starfield will be available on September 6 on Xbox Series X | S and PC, and that several editions are already available for pre-order.
