The National Election Commission announced that in the main voting for the 20th presidential election, which will be held the day following tomorrow, those infected with COVID-19 and those who are quarantined will cast their ballots in the same way as general voters, by putting paper directly into the ballot box.
Instead, following 6 pm, all general voters left the polling station to vote.
The National Election Commission held an emergency plenary meeting today and made this decision on how to proceed with the main election for the corona19 confirmed and quarantined people.
As a result, confirmed and quarantined persons will use the voting booths used by general voters, not the temporary voting booths prepared separately as in the case of advance voting, and the ballot papers will be put directly into the general ballot box.
The main voting time for confirmed and quarantined people is from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, following the general voters close, and they must obtain permission to go out temporarily from the quarantine authorities in advance.
The National Election Commission added, “If ordinary voters do not finish voting by 6 pm, they can wait in a separate place outside the polling place and vote following ordinary voters leave.”
At today’s meeting, Election Commissioners including Chairman Roh Jeong-hee said, “We apologize for not being able to predict and prepare for the scale of advance voting management, including confirmed cases, and for providing information on temporary voting booths.”
“We apologize for causing confusion and inconvenience to the people,” he said.
