Asuncion, IP Agency.-The World Rally Championship (WRC) will have its longest season since 2008 in 2025 following the confirmation of a 14-round calendar.
As previously reported, the WRC calendar will be expanded next year to include three new rallies, with the addition of the Canary Islands, Paraguay and Saudi Arabia.
The calendar features five flyaways, four asphalt rallies, nine gravel rallies and one snow rallies.
Monte Carlo retains its place as the season-opening event in January, with the championship then moving to the snows of Sweden in February before the annual visit to Kenya in March.
The first of the new rallies will be the fourth round of the season in April, as Spain returns to the calendar after a two-year absence via the Rally Islas Canarias, which has gained promotion from the European Rally Championship.
Portugal will begin a run of seven consecutive gravel rallies alongside Sardinia (Italy) and the Acropolis Rally in Greece, the latter returning to its traditional June date after having been held in September in recent seasons.
Estonia returns to the calendar in July in place of Latvia, ahead of Finland, and the WRC travels to Paraguay for the first time in August, two weeks before the championship’s second South American round in Chile.
Following its debut last year, the Central European Rally, which takes place in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, returns in October ahead of the fourth asphalt rally of the season in Japan.
The new Saudi Arabia Rally, which has signed a 10-year deal with the WRC, will close the season in November, marking the first time since 2011 that the Middle East region will be represented on the WRC.Motorsport calendar.
