Another jigsaw puzzle of equestrian formations for the year 2025 is added. French team Alpine announced today that 21-year-old rookie Jack Doohan will be a new teammate.

“I am delighted to have been promoted to a full race driver position in 2025 with the BWT Alpine F1 Team. It’s a great moment for my family and I’m ready to give it my all and work hard,” said Doohan.

“We are delighted to promote Jack to the role of race driver from next season, giving him the opportunity to showcase his skills and talent in Formula 1,” said Oliver Oakes, Alpine’s new boss. “Jack will become the first rider to graduate from the Alpine Academy, which is extraordinary for the team and the journey of this young driver.”

“I personally worked with Jack already in 2019 and I am fully aware of his talent and potential. He is a hard worker behind closed doors and the team appreciates his commitment immensely.”

Doohan’s entry is great news for Australian motorsport and fans hailing from the country. In addition to Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo, the Australians can have three pilots on the starting grid – if we count on the fact that Daniel Ricciardo will remain in Formula 1 even in 2025.

Jack Doohan is the son of five-time motorcycle world champion Mick Doohan. His biggest achievements to date include second place in the F3 Championship in 2021 and third place in the F2 Championship in 2023.
