At midnight on July 9, President Javier Milei will have the long-awaited photo of the postponed May Pact assumed with governors and leaders of other spaces to advance with 10 long-term State policies, with the objective of ending the constant change of direction of the country.

The event will take place at the Casa Histórica in Tucumán. The head of state will leave late this followingnoon with his sister and Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, bound for San Miguel de Tucumán. His Chief of Staff, Guillermo Francos, and his full cabinet of ministers will be waiting for him there, and will travel on a separate flight.

The President will arrive in the provincial capital at 9 p.m. and will go to a hotel in the area, where he will wait until 11 p.m. to begin the vigil for July 9, the date on which 208 years have passed since the Argentine Declaration of Independence.

At the event, which will be broadcast nationally, Milei is expected to be accompanied by 18 governors: Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucumán), Raúl Jalil (Catamarca), Rogelio Frigerio (Entre Ríos), Gustavo Valdés (Corrientes), Alfredo Cornejo (Mendoza), Marcelo Orrego (San Juan), Maximiliano Pullaro (Santa Fe), Ignacio Torres (Chubut), Carlos Sadir (Jujuy), Leandro Zdero (Chaco), Claudio Poggi (San Luis), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Martín Llaryora (Cordoba), Gustavo Sáenz (Salta), Claudio Vidal (Santa Cruz), Hugo Passalacqua (Misiones), Rolando Figueroa (Neuquén), Alberto Weretilneck (Río Negro) and the Head of Government of the City of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri.

According to La Gaceta, in the last few hours it has emerged that Governor Jaldo had contacts with his counterpart from Santiago del Estero, Gerardo Zamora, who would have told him of his intention to participate in the events at the Casa Histórica.

However, the provincial leaders who represent the opposition sector have already confirmed that they will not be there: Axel Kicillof (PBA), Gustavo Melella (Tierra del Fuego), Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa) and Gildo Insfrán (Formosa). They all agree that the signing of the “Pact” is an empty shell and that the only thing the president is looking for is “a photo”.

The provincial leaders of Peronism are some of the notable absences that will be present at the event. The Hacemos Coalición Federal bloc, led by Miguel Ángel Pichetto in the Chamber of Deputies, announced that it will not participate. The dialogue group announced that, despite agreeing with the ten points raised by Javier Milei, these objectives “are not achieved with a photo or the signing of a paper.” Although the statement was not categorical regarding the decision not to be present at the event, qualified sources from HCF confirmed that they will not participate in the event.

The government’s idea is to count on the presence of former presidents. Last week they sent invitations and Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, Alberto Fernández and even Estela Martínez, “Isabelita” (who is 94 years old and has lived in Madrid for almost half a century) rejected the invitation, as did Eduardo Duhalde. The one who did confirm his attendance following a tumultuous week with the Government due to the PRO internal, is Mauricio Macri. He will be the only former President who was elected by popular vote in that photo. The doubt remained as to whether Ramón Puerta and Adolfo Rodríguez Saá would join. Finally, the man from San Luis confirmed that he will go.
