“Giorgia Meloni reassured the Italians for two days that we will not send offensive weapons to Ukraine and that we will keep fifteen on the sidelines of the war. All this has had a positive impact on the government and in particular on Fratelli d’Italia”. The analysis of Nicola Piepoli, a pollster interviewed by Il Giornale, begins from this consideration to take stock of the situation in the current political framework. According to the expert from the Piepoli Institute, “the Meloni government has a ’38’ in the confidence indicator, which taken today is remarkable, especially because it is almost up compared to the beginning of the year. It is true that it started very high at the beginning of his mandate (October 2022), at 45, but almost two years have passed and in terms of membership, especially those of the more mature part of the population, he has not lost ‘pieces’ in the collective imagination. No previous government has maintained this level of popularity (perhaps also because it didn’t have the time). Lately, the government’s tendency to stabilize has perhaps strengthened precisely because the collective unconscious has felt that the prime minister is fighting to maintain peace.”
Piepoli then takes a look at the performance of the political parties, with the shares being rather stable: “Three parties stand out, Fratelli d’Italia which is still far superior to the others and even tends to strengthen, the Democratic Party which oscillates with difficulty around at 20% and the 5 Star Movement which remains a credible mass party despite the incredibleness often aroused in us researchers”. In particular, in the Fratelli d’Italia poll it is at 28%, the Pd at 20%, the M5S at 16.5%, the League at 8.5%, Forza Italia at 8%, while Azione, Italia Viva and l The Greens-Left Alliance all appeared at 4%.
