On Monday, September 25, 2023, a conference on the situation of cultural education in Austria will take place in the hall of Younion Vienna, Maria-Theresien-Straße 11, 1090 Vienna (1 p.m. – 5 p.m.).
This event is a cooperation of OMR and the union initiative “Cultural convention” (Cultural union in the Younion, musicians’ guild, IG authors authors) and sees itself as a continuation of the OMR-Position paper on art and culture strategy.

A broad alliance of teaching representatives, training institutions, music and other art and cultural subjects is invited, AKM, CAME, Interest groups, activists, etc.
The aim is a press release and measures to give cultural subjects in schools better prospects for the future. We demand more attractive professional conditions, appropriate appreciation and recognition under service law instead of reductions in the area of training and administrative institutions.
In the final communiqué ARGE Cultural Diversity of the Austrian UNESCO Commissionpublished in June 2023, says on page 9, among other things
“Offers of art and cultural mediation projects with external people (artists or mediators) and Coordination with schools should be further expanded in Austria. At the same time, however, it must be ensured that the artistic subjects in schools finally receive appropriate appreciation and recognition under service law. The existing shortage of qualified teachers should be addressed through attractive professional conditions and not through a reduction in the number of training institutions.”
