The October 21, 22 and 23 will be held, with free registration, three days of conferences, talks, book presentations and the inauguration of an exhibition of personal letters and health, in the “Sea of letters” space of the Torreón del Monje. There will also be spaces for creative writing.
The sessions are sponsored by the National University of Mar del Plata and by the Secretary of Culture of the Municipality of General Pueyrredon.
Literature is a vast field that has been linked throughout history with countless disciplines. Between them, medicine occupies a privileged placeboth because it was approached as a theme or resource by several writers, and because of the incursion of specialists in one subject over another.
The main objective of these first sessions is know, explore and experience the link between literature and medicine. Writers, doctors and storytellers will travel from different parts of the country to discuss this rich interaction. Some of the topics will revolve around illness and its metaphors, what the experience of doctors is regarding when they write, how illness (and health) impacts literary practice and, of course, how count the disease. Also, in this framework, the exhibition will be inaugurated “In health as in illness”.
