Conference League: Vrancken and La Gantoise take a step towards qualification

“I had warned my players about two things where Vikingur could be dangerous: set pieces and counter-attacks. It’s a shame to concede such a goal from a set piece,” said Ghent coach Wouter Vrancken after the game. “This goal is the only thing I can criticise my team for. We were already very dominant before the equaliser. In the future, we will have to find ourselves even better to score more goals.”

Vrancken has already left his mark on Ghent’s game with high full-backs and high pressing. “I found us too cautious in the attacking phase in the first half. It was better after the break and the players gained confidence with the goals scored. We are not yet sure of qualifying but nothing should happen to us.”

After the match, Julien De Sart was thanked by the supporters while he is mentioned in Qatar. “I have not yet heard about an official transfer. That’s all I can say on the subject,” concluded Vrancken.
