Conduct of the transition: in the event of unity of action by the FVG and the CCPF against the junta

Faced with what they describe as “unilateral management” of the transition, the Conference of Political and Umbrella Coalitions of Civil Society (CCPF) sent a memorandum to Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya.

In an 8-page document, the CCPF denounces in particular the lack of transparency in the conduct of the transition, the absence of periodic consultations between the CNRD, the government, the leaders of the political coalitions and the umbrella organizations of civil society who participated in the dialog box. It also mentions the delay in the start of the Administrative Census Program for Civil Status (RAVEC) and the cost deemed unjustified for the implementation of the 10 stages of the Transition. According to the CCPF, these elements constitute obstacles to the restoration of constitutional order.

In addition to the failure to respect the timetable for the transition, the FVG and the CCPF strongly condemned the decree of the Head of State granting regional governors the power to appoint ward and district officials.

Can we anticipate a potential collaboration between the CCPF and the FVGs? For now, answering this question remains complex. However, common interests or demands have the ability to unite even the fiercest political adversaries. The convergence between Alpha Condé and Cellou Dalein, both members of the Forces Vives and opposed to the management of Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, is an example of this.

Are we moving towards cooperation between these two entities? From now on, everything seems to suggest it. Indeed, in recent days, political actors considered to support the actions of the junta have called on the authorities to take into account and urgently organize a broad consultation with political coalitions and umbrella organizations of civil society in order to readjust the transition. .

During his party’s assembly last weekend, Fodé Oussou Fofana, interim president of the Union of Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG), invited political “major parties” such as Sidya Touré’s UFR , the former ruling party, the Rainbow RPG, the PEDN of Lansana Kouyaté, the Liberal Bloc of Faya Millimouno, the MoDeL of Aliou Bah, the MPDG of Siaka Barry and the UDG of Mamadou Sylla, in unite to demand that the CNRD respect the commitments made on September 5, 2021.

It remains to be seen whether the actors will become aware of the gravity of the situation and will engage in a broader reflection to demand that the timetable be respected in order to avoid any slippage.

To protest once morest the “shortcomings” in the conduct of the transition, the Forces vives de Guinée are planning a peaceful march on the loyal Castro highway on Tuesday, September 5, on the occasion of the second anniversary of the power of the CNRD.
Although some members of the Conference of Political and Umbrella Coalitions of Civil Society (CCPF) consider this event to be “untimely” given the current context, most members nevertheless draw up a mixed assessment of the two years of management of the junta.
