Conditions of political prisoners in Rodeo I are reported to the MP

A group of relatives of political prisoners gathered outside the Public Ministry to denounce that the inmates have suffered cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment since they were transferred on February 19 to the Rodeo I prison, located in Miranda state.

There are approximately 30 politicians which were initially located at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM) and the Ramo Verde military prison.

The relatives gave a document to the Prosecutor’s Office in which they demand that they be provided with decent conditionsas they claim that their human rights are being violated in Rodeo I, reported the Human Kaleidoscope NGO.

Transfer to Rodeo I

On February 19, Foro Penal reported on these transfers and alleged that They were unaware of the reasons for them.

This is not the first time that relatives have denounced the mistreatment suffered by this group of people. On April 24, during a press conference, they expressed their concern because Visits and food were restricted for them.

The NGO recently published an updated report on the data of political prisoners in the country where it was reflected that There are a total of 273, of which 252 are men and 21 are women.

The organization also noted that 126 are civilians and 147 are military officials.
