Taco, the puppy stolen during a carjacking on Tuesday in Condado, was found dead yesterday, Thursday.

According to authorities, a tourist, a resident of Texas, was the victim of the robbery at around 12:05 in the morning, while driving along Magdalena Avenue towards a hotel.

According to the victim, a hooded man took him out of the vehicle and left in it, with the Chihuahua dog on board. The car was found shortly following on Hernández Road, in Cupey, but the dog was not located.

It was not until yesterday that agent José López Cotto, assigned to the Property and Theft Division of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of San Juan, monitored the route of the Global Positioning System (GPS) of the stolen car and, when making the tour, he found the lifeless dog, whose characteristics were similar to those of Taco, in a green area, behind the Walgreens pharmacy, in Venus Gardens.

The deceased dog was identified as Taco by its owner. The man bought some bottles of water, cleaned the dog and took him to a nearby veterinarian where he would be cremated.

At the time of finding him, it might not be determined if he had any signs of violence. Furthermore, it cannot be ruled out that he had been hit by a car.

The dog, a cream and white Chihuahua breed, was a service dog and was approximately five years old.
