The Xinxing Building where the incident occurred was on July 29, and similar incidents have already occurred. At regarding 8 a.m. that day, regarding 50 centimeters by 30 centimeters of concrete peeled off from the canopy of the building and fell onto the pavement. No one was injured.
The Urban Renewal Authority responded to media inquiries on July 31, saying that Xinxing Building was one of the first batch of cases handled by the “Building Renewal Action 2.0”.
