MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Concordia University Irvine men’s lacrosse team finished its three-game road trip in the Sunshine State on Saturday once morest the Florida Institute of Technology Panthers.
Matt Carresi and Chad McFadden combined for five goals to lead the Concordia attack. The pair extended their personal streaks of scoring at least one goal in every regular season game so far this year.
McFadden net three goals and unleashed 11 shots. Carresi scored twice and added two assists.
This duo is tied for the team lead this season with identical numbers. Both have scored 15 goals and handed out five assists for a total of 20 points through Concordia’s first six games.
After falling behind 11-5 in the first half, the Golden Eagles outscored the Panthers 3-1 in the third period. Drew Buckley, Carresi and McFadden all found the back of the net to give CUI a boost. Buckley ended up with two goals and now has eight on the year.
However, CUI might not fully dig out of that hole. The host Panthers were able to pounce from there and kept the Golden Eagles off the scoreboard the entire fourth quarter. It all added up to a 15-8 victory for Florida Tech.
The Golden Eagles will return to Irvine and regroup before getting ready for their next road trip once morest RMAC opponents Adams State and CSU Pueblo later this March.
