Following Concord’s exclusive beta for PlayStation 5 and PC players that didn’t get the numbers that Sony and Firewalk Studios might have wanted, the studio has provided new information about what’s coming to the game during its launch scheduled for this coming August 23.
Among the highlights, Firewalk confirmed that its upcoming game-as-a-service will not have a battle pass like many games in the genre.
The massive thread posted on social network Xanswering some of the most common questions from players during the last beta, its developer also discussed progression, maps, modes, and plans for post-launch support.
“Concord does not have a Battle Pass,” the studio confirmed. “We wanted to focus our attention on making Concord a rewarding and solid experience from day one, where simply playing the game, leveling up your accounts and characters, and completing tasks provides you with meaningful rewards.”
He also said that the progression rewards available in the beta were just a small selection of the unlockables that will be included in the game at launch.
“When Concord launches, we’ll have hundreds of items to customize your Freegunners, which you can earn simply by playing the game, completing jobs, and leveling up your account and characters,” Firewalk said.
“These rewards are cosmetic, do not affect gameplay, and include: Freegunner outfits, clothing, and accessories, as well as weapon skins, weapon charms, victory and defeat poses, and insert animations.”
Obviously, Concord will have more content over time.
Since this is a game-as-a-service, it is expected that both Sony and Firewalk Studios will add fresh content to the game.
At launch, Concord will feature 12 distinct launch maps, including the 5 maps seen during the beta alongside the modes and 16 playable Freegunners with their unlockable variants.
“Launch is just the beginning,” Firewalk added. “We’ll be introducing new Freegunners, maps, modes, and more through regular post-launch seasons and updates available to all players at no additional cost. We’ll be diving deeper into our post-launch roadmap soon, so stay tuned!”
To make matters worse, the hero shooter won’t have single-player or PvE modes at launch, but the studio plans to add that type of content through constant updates.
