Concord, the 5 vs. 5 FPS developed by Firewalk Studios has announced that this month we will have access to its open beta for all PlayStation 5 and PC players with an early access weekend starting Friday, July 12, until Sunday, July 14 for those who have pre-ordered the game.
However, from July 18th to Sunday, July 21st, it will be available to everyone. No matter what platform you play on, Concord Early Access and Open Beta will let you team up with your friends on either PS5 or PC, with optional crossplay support.
During the beta, players will be able to try out the full roster of 16 Freegunners, characters with unique abilities and playstyles. These include Haymar, Vale, Lennox, 1-IC0, and Starchild, as well as other Northstar characters like It-Z, Teo, and Bazz.
During the Concord Beta Early Access Weekend you will have the chance to play five maps and four game modes. We will describe them below:
Maps
- Agualibre: Set in a fortified outpost on the planet Mirada, which exists under a scorching sun, Agualibre features a crisscrossing lane perimeter and a large central courtyard in the middle of the map that serves as the main convergence point and inspires intense combat encounters.
- Aquatic hazard: On the stormy, water-covered planet of Leviathan, a massive armored eel known as a morack has been caught and is being harvested on a large floating fishing platform. Players will battle across the platform and into the jaws of the morack eel at a prime harvesting site.
- Star Chamber: At the top of the highest mountain on the planet Penumbra lies an ancient observatory with narrow corridors and a meteorite in the center, creating great opportunities for team fights and single-player battles.
- Risk of collision: Set beneath a massive lightning-harvesting conductive comet in the sky on the planet Leviathan, Crash Risk features several unique arenas to battle rival teams in, and paths that converge on a massive central tower.
- Bone Mines The remains of the massive Vastodonts on the tropical planet of Akkar have become the site of a lucrative Guild mining operation, where you’ll fight your way through excavated bones and mining caves in a mix of mid-range melee combat.
Modes
- Trophy Hunter: A respawn-based mode where you battle to take down opposing team members and collect their reward cards to earn points for your team. The first team to reach the target score before time runs out wins the match.
- Cargo Assault: A no-respawn mode where teams compete to retrieve the blue friend’s robotic package delivery system, place it in one of the zones, and defend it from the opposing team to win.
- Crash point: A round-based game mode with no respawns where teams compete to control a single capture zone in a central location on the map.
- Area control: A respawn mode where teams compete to control various capture and control zones around the map. Control one or more zones to increase your team’s score and reach the points threshold to win.
We will learn the story of Concord during the beta
In addition to getting to know the Northstar crew through gameplay, you’ll also get to see the beginning of their story. When you play the beta, the game will greet you with the first cinematics: short clips that will debut in-game each week upon starting Concord. When Early Access launches for the beta and then when Open Beta begins, new cinematics will be introduced in-game to give you a glimpse into how the Northstar crew’s stories unfold each week.
Following the beta, Concord will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC starting August 23.
