concert #17: scooter @ wiener stadthalle | 05/27/2022

“scooter” were in the stadthalle and fascinated with techno, dance and fire!

I had already seen “scooter” as a kick-ass late-nite act at a festival – and with that I thought my scooter experience was over. when i found out from people around me in spring that somehow everyone would attend the scooter concert in the stadthalle, i got a bit of a fear-of-missing-out. so i organized a ticket and was a bit ambivalent regarding the event – did i even have an outfit for this happening and was i really sure that i might endure the music? on the other hand: a lot of dear people would be there and that’s why it had to be good!

with my glittery silver dress i felt well dressed that evening for “scooter“ – together with a horde of people i entered the stadthalle and the first glimpse of the stage promised a lot. when it started i was quite overwhelmed: an apparently not aging hp baxxter, half-naked dancers and lots of pyrotechnics took us into a rave world from the 90s and 00s as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

because of my own history i was familiar with a lot of scooter songs (ex boyfriend was a dj in the country disco) – but it wasn’t difficult to remember scooter songs either. the most important phrases were actually already included in the song titles anyway, so it was easy to sing along to “how much is the fish”, “maria, i like it loud” or “always hardcore”. and so a wild mix of people in the town hall sang and danced to rave classics – from very convinced scooter fans to people who are otherwise only found at metal concerts. scooters bring people together – in the truest sense of the word!

one of my highlights was when hp baxxter played with a guitar that was on fire at the same time. I had never seen anything like this and I was really impressed that there were no injuries. In general, I’m almost always a bit surprised that with so much pyrotechnics, nothing ever starts to burn. in any case, it was something different, watching fire fountains accompanied by techno sounds – following all, you don’t do that every day!

my final conclusion: the evening with “scooter” was super entertaining – the audience was in a good mood, there was always something to see and always a line to sing along to. Anyway, I enjoyed it – jumping around with friends in the present time and at the same time reminiscing a bit nostalgically.
