Kovid confirmed 42,154 people in the state today. The worst affected districts are Ernakulam 9453, Thrissur 6177, Kozhikode 4074, Thiruvananthapuram 3271, Kottayam 2840, Kollam 2817, Palakkad 2718, Malappuram 2463, Alappuzha 2074, Kannur 1572, Idukki 1451, Pathanamthitta 1338, Wayanad 1062 and Kasaragod 844. 99,410 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. There are currently 5,37,909 people under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 5,25,238 are under home / institutional quarantine and 12,637 in hospitals. A total of 1340 people were newly admitted to the hospital. At present, out of 3,57,552 Kovid cases, only 3.2 per cent are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.

In the last 24 hours, 10 deaths have been confirmed to be due to Kovid. In addition, 81 deaths were reported in the previous days due to late receipt of documents and 638 deaths due to appeal by the Central Government under the new guidelines of the Supreme Court. This brings the total death toll in the state to 54,395.

Today, 174 of those diagnosed with the disease are from outside the state. 38,406 people were infected through contact. Contact source for 3234 is not clear. The disease affected 340 health workers. Of the 38,458 people diagnosed and treated, the disease was cured. Thiruvananthapuram 6827, Kollam 2353, Pathanamthitta 2244, Alappuzha 1541, Kottayam 1099, Idukki 1317, Ernakulam 7632, Thrissur 4538, Palakkad 2121, Malappuram 2165, Kozhikode 2805, Wayanad 927, Kannur 1260 and Kasaragod 1629 were cured. With this, 3,57,552 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are still undergoing treatment. 56,12,993 have so far been released from Kovid.
