The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the public not to lead opinions regarding the issue of one of the KPK prosecutors extorting witnesses of up to IDR 3 billion. Residents are asked to respect the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Committee who is investigating this information.
“Let’s continue to respect the ongoing legal process, both at the Dewas, prosecution and prevention deputies of the Corruption Eradication Commission. “The public should not lead opinions because this information is still in the form of a complaint that must be proven,” said KPK enforcement spokesman Ali Fikri in a written statement, Sunday (31/3).
The KPK confirmed that it would find out the truth of the information regarding the extortion. The public is also asked not to carelessly accept promises or give anything to parties claiming to be from anti-corruption institutions.
“We certainly appreciate every public report as part of our concern for allegations of corruption in the surrounding area, and we are committed to carrying out an in-depth investigation to ensure the truth of the information,” said Ali.
Previously, news of one of the KPK prosecutors extorting one of the witnesses emerged. This information is now being investigated by the state administrators’ wealth reporting team (LHKPN). The account of the public prosecutor who allegedly asked for IDR 3 billion was examined.
“We are looking at his bank account,” said KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Pahala Nainggolan.
Pahala might not provide details regarding his team’s examination of the prosecutor. This LHKPN investigation was carried out because news of the extortion had reached the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution. (Z-11)
