Concern over Russia’s funding of the far right and Belgium’s role as a hub

A month ago, several foreign media reported information from US intelligence that Vladimir Putin’s regime has transferred $300 million since 2014 to fund political parties around the world and plans to transfer more hundreds of millions. The parties are not named but the United States would have shared its information with the countries concerned. According to a source quoted by AFP, Brussels would serve as a hub.

“The public sharing of this information highlights the major challenge posed by secret Russian political influence for democratic states”, underlines the deputy in his letter.

Mr. Dallemand would like the parliamentary follow-up committee of Committee R to hold an exchange of views in order to assess the threat on Belgian territory and the measures taken.
